Tom Williams Endorses Alan Moore
Alan Keeps This Agency Operating & Moving Forward
As a retired Officer from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, serving 22 years, my full support is with Alan Moore and I look forward to highlighting further aspects of Alan’s career.
I can say with certainty that Alan has been strategically involved in so many aspects of the success operation of the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and done so without monetary compensation. I know of no one, past or current, that has dedicated their time to the agency for free.
It always amazed me in the amount of personal assets Alan gave to the agency’s cause - such as providing his own horses and tack gear, corral, and hay for the mounted patrol during the Wayne County Fair, year after year. I spent many hours working with Alan during fair week. Some nights lasting into early morning hours. Add when I was finally off duty and headed home, Alan still had to prepare and load his horses and transport them back to his home. Then having to unload and tend to their needs before he could finally retire to a hot shower and sleep. I, on the other hand, was compensated for all of my time during my shift including many overtime hours. This is one of many selfless acts Alan has given for this agency to ensure safety for the citizens in this community.
I have much more information on numerous tasks performed by Alan to elevate this agency beyond what larger agencies have at their disposal. Building and getting Mobile Command Center Certified, knowledge of evidentiary tools, such as cell phone evidence collection, writing computer programs for both the jail and enforcement divisions. I will repeat what I have said publicly many times…. Alan Moore keeps this agency operating and moving forward with all his talents and knowledge. I would think it safe to say, Alan is one person who is relied on so much that his absence from this agency would be felt across both divisions. They say we are all replaceable, true to a degree. However, I know of no one that has provided, implemented so many things that have made this a successful agency for many Sheriffs terms. The term “We need to call Alan for his help” was common.
The final thoughts I have address him not being a graduate of the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy. I am a graduate from the ILEA Class 99-140. It is basic training. You learn how to police through training officers on the job. The highest liability for a Sheriff is Operating and Maintaining the County Jail. I can tell you that there is no part of the ILEA Basic training that teaches anything about operating the Jail. Alan meets and attends all the annually training requirements for certified officers. Firearms qualification, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, first aid, and all other yearly training requirements. He has been more qualified them most of us due to being an integral part of all aspects within the Sheriff's Offices as well as the 911 center. He has the experience of running an agency as for several years he was the Fire Chief of the Boston Indiana Volunteer Fire Department.
Good Luck Alan with your future and involvement in this Wayne County Community.
