John Albright Endorses Alan Moore

He Leads By Example & Treats Others With Respect

I am writing this letter in strong support of Alan Moore as a candidate for Sheriff of Wayne County, Indiana. I have known Alan personally for over 20 years, and during that time I have had the chance to work with him in several areas of public service.

For 14 years, I worked with Alan while serving as a Reserve Deputy and as a member of the Mounted Patrol. During that time, Alan showed honesty, strong leadership, and a true commitment to serving the people of Wayne County. He leads by example and treats others with respect.

Alan has spent much of his life serving his community. He served for many years as a volunteer firefighter and was always willing to step forward when help was needed. He has also donated many hours helping the county solve IT and computer problems, saving the county time and money.

Alan has also worked with young people in our community. He volunteered as a leader with the Boy Scouts, has been active in the Sheriff’s Explorer Program, and has supported the Wayne County 4-H program, among other organizations. Through these programs he helped teach young people responsibility, leadership, and the value of community service.

I also had the privilege of working with Alan to form the Warrant Task Force. Because of the work done by that team, the number of outstanding warrants in the county was reduced from about 2,700 to around 400. This shows Alan’s ability to organize people, solve problems, and get real results.

Alan has also volunteered his time and his own horses for the Mounted Patrol for many years. He has even offered free horse-riding clinics for people in the community who wanted to learn.

Some people have said that Alan did not attend the Basic Law Enforcement Academy many years ago. However, Alan has spent more than 20 years with the Wayne County Reserve Sheriff’s Department and has given over 10,000 hours of service. During that time he worked side by side with certified deputies and leaders in the department. He gained real, practical knowledge about law enforcement and how the department works.

It is also important to remember that the position of Sheriff is not the same as the job of a regular deputy. The sheriff is the executive leader of the department. The job requires strong leadership, planning, budgeting, and management skills. A sheriff must oversee employees, manage resources, make policy decisions, and guide the direction of the entire department. Many of these responsibilities are not things that are taught in the Basic Law Enforcement Academy, which mainly focuses on the duties of a patrol deputy.

Alan has strong experience in these areas. He has started and run businesses, which requires managing people, budgets, planning, and solving problems. He also holds a college degree. These experiences help prepare someone to lead a large organization like the Sheriff’s Department.

Alan’s leadership was clearly recognized when he was chosen to serve as Chief Deputy over his opponent. This decision showed the trust and confidence that county leadership had in his ability to lead and manage the department.

Beyond all of this, Alan is simply a good neighbor. He is always willing to help people in the community when they need it.

Alan Moore is a man of integrity, experience, and proven leadership. His years of service, volunteer work, business experience, and dedication to the people of Wayne County make him well qualified to serve as Sheriff. I give him my full support and highest recommendation.
